Our wedding is a formal Black Tie affair. We ask that men wear a tuxedo, and women wear a floor-length evening gown or formal pantsuit.

No, the dress code does not require guests to wear black clothing. Women may wear gowns of any color, and mens tuxedos can be black or midnight blue.
